Good Friday is a day of rejoicing and you are absolutely right when you wish happy Good friday. Jesus came to save the world with his suffering and pain. Had he not to do it all our days in this world would have been full of mourning and the evil one would have triumphed.

So although we may feel the sorrowful pain in the death of Jesus Christ on the cross, his supreme sacrifice brings before us untold joy and the grace of salvation which could come only through his most painful and innocent death.

I believe we are living in the revival... We all play our parts, and even the smallest are essential - from inviting people to Mass with us, blogging about our faith, helping to organize parish activities... Whatever works!

Seminary enrollment worldwide and in the US has been on an uspsing for several years now. Those of us who are in regular contact with some vocations directors are hearing the same thing "Things are looking better, and next year is looking better still."

I wrote this last July: http://blog.ancient-future.net/2007/07/14/counting-blessings/

And I plan to re-visit it again this July... Things are improving and I have more to add to it.

Don't lose hope.

Agreed. As part of the Lenten journey I know millions of Christians have been reflecting on the crucifixion. For Catholics, each Friday in Lent is a day of contemplation of the suffering of Jesus when the Way of the Cross is recited. The excitement in reaching towards Easter was born of having walked that sorrowful journey through Lent, kind of "are we there yet?" :)

I also think we need to slow down the rush to Happy Easter to put more energy into contemplating the crucifixion, even though it's more difficult to consider.

I guess it depends on where one lives in the US. In the south you will get asked generally what the ashes mean. It's helpful to know the what & why of Ash Wednesday.

Blessings on your lenten journey.

This is the first time I've found your blog, but I wanted to let you know that there are others who have been there, and stand behind you. May God bless you richly as you strive to please Him in your time at work.
